The Rock: Idealistic Actor in a Realist World
In philosophy, there is a long-standing argument between realism and idealism. The debate has been going on for centuries because it’s still unclear which philosophy is best. One philosophy focuses on the idea that evil exists in the world, while the other philosophy argues that good always prevails in the end. In this blog post, I will give examples from popular actor “The Rock” to show how we tend to prefer an idealistic character over a realist one.
Dwayne Johnson is known for playing strong and determined characters in movies. He is the ideal actor to play an idealistic character because of his muscular build and tough attitude. The Rock plays idealistic characters in films such as Moana and Hercules. In these roles, he portrays someone larger than life and able to overcome any obstacle.
Many people prefer idealistic characters and worlds over realism and evil. This is likely due to the fact that an ideal character represents everything we wish we could be. They are strong, determined, and always succeed in the end. A realistic character, on the other hand, is often seen as cruel and heartless. They may have good intentions but end up doing more harm than good. Therefore, we favor idealism over realism and often feel uncomfortable when faced with the latter in movies such as The Revenant.
